RON CULVER, AIA
Principal
Accomplished as an architect, musician, painter and sculptor, Ron’s fusion of aesthetic and tectonic concepts creates a rare blend in his design sensibility.
Originally from British Columbia where he became Principal Percussionist for the Vancouver Philharmonic at eighteen, his musical career led him to Southern California where a longstanding passion for design and fabrication resulted in his founding design-build business ventures in both the USA and Canada.
Ron’s artistic approach to architecture is amplified by his in-depth theoretical and practical expertise: he holds a Bachelor of Architecture with honors from SCI_Arc and a Master of Architecture from UCLA where he explored the use of robotics in Architecture. He has more than 35 years of practical experience in innovative materials, building processes and applications, and the methodology of many construction types. He has also managed large-scale mixed-use projects from start to finish as the Managing Director of Michael W. Folonis Architects. Some of his experimental work can be seen at www.formfounddesign.com
